While setting up for a sun-rise shoot, a Hawaiian Monk Seal was making its way onto the beach to rest. The sun was not cooperating, so I threw on the long lens to photograph my new subject.

Hawaiian sunsets can be absolutely epic. After scouting out this location, a short hike out on a cliff outcropping, I waited for one of those legendary sunsets… This evening it was not to be, but the shot captured was still beautiful - and the experience was even better!

Waimea Canyon is an amazing example of just how diverse the terrain on the island of Kauai is. This canyon is fourteen miles long, a mile wide, and over thirty-six hundred feet deep!

Waipoo Falls is just one of the many that you will encounter while exploring Waimea Canyon. This waterfall drops over eight hundred feet!

The White-Tailed Tropicbird is one of the many birds that are native to Kauai. This one was flying around in a deep canyon allowing me to capture it in flight from just above.

Kilauea Lighthouse is on Kauai’s north-east coast. I was fortunate enough to have the skies open up for just brief moment between rain showers to get this shot with beautiful light spotlighting the lighthouse.

The Na-Pali Coast! Pictures can’t do justice to the indescribable beauty of this coast. This, and the next three pictures were taken from a tour boat in choppy seas. The lighting for most of the shots was poor, but still good enough to capture some of the flavor of the coast.

The Na-Pali Coast has it all! Waterfalls, caves, sea cliffs… What more can you ask for!

If the spectacular scenery of the Na-Pali coast is not enough… How about secluded beaches to “up the ante”!

Returning back to port on our cruise, the layers of the coast with the bright skies and sea-mist made for an interesting shot. Not a bad scene to end the day!
